The weather was awesome. We drived from the highland to the speyside to elgin. The area where whisky lovers are getting on their cost. But before we reached Elgin we passed through a small town called Forres and we saw the Distillery Benromach. The front garden is beautifully designed. Some stunning animal statues out of wood and some barrels decorating the garden.
The group decided to get a stop and check the visitor center. It was just early in the day but we cannot stop ourselfes for a little tasting. I just know the 10 year Benromach before and I want to know the variety from Benromach.
Within the visitor center there were a lounge with some relaxing leather couches and a table. A good feeling to enjoy some good samples. I got four different whisky samples from Benromach. Especially I can remember two samples: Organic and peat smoke.
Organic:
It was awesome. A sweat light whisky for every situation. I loved the nose, full of toffe-vanilla and banana between the oak flavor.
A sip later I can exerience the full orbit of the sample. Oak, with conspicuous lines of pepper. The feeling was smooth, maybe a bit oily but supple on my tongue. The taste afterwards wasn’t that long that I expected but I got triggered. I want the next nip.
Peat smoke:
After I took the glass I just could imaging what I will taste. My nose get tastes of smoke, oak and a ciguar but there is a hint of citron. The hype was real. The taste got oak, smoke and pepper (again). But nothing is too succinct. Perfectly balanced. I enjoyed the sample very much.
Benromach also got a shop. But I haven’t purchased a flask. Back at home the desire got me and I ordered a bottle of the peat smoke. Everytime I got a sip I remembered the beautiful visitor center and the good samles.
I definitely recommend a visit here and get some good samples of good whisky. Relax.
